Small campground with direct access to ATV trails. Tent camping on small sites with fire rings and picnic tables.

This place is well kept and free. There are only 9 campsites which makes for quiet stays...usually. the trail head is right at the site. Perfect stay. Vault restroom, no water.

If you have a family or are single and do not want to deal with the B.S., I would stay down the road at Elizabeth Furnace. They have a campground host and the Ranger watches the campground like a hawk. They also fine people for not practicing proper bear safety.

The area is very economically depressed. In the summer months there are a lot of drifters up in the mountains.

It is major bear country. A majority of people refuse to keep their cooler locked up. The bears are huge and are very stealth. They have no problem walking into your campsite while you are away....even for five minutes.

Not for families anymore!

Unfortunately the locals use it as a local party spot. Be prepared to see/hear A LOT of underage drinking, music, fighting, people blowing stuff up, firing guns into the air, breaking bottles, driving pickup trucks around the campground like idiots, driving four wheelers around the campground like idiots, vandalism, peeing on stuff, people having sex, kids screaming, parents yelling at screaming kids, and lots and lots of drinking (signs say it is prohibited).

Happy Camping!

Decent free camping spot with a little restroom. Right by the offroad trails so easy access but that does mean a little traffic and 4 wheeler noise. To be expected. Never had any problems here. Lots of wildlife in the area.

It is a rustic campground on top of a small mountain. There is one outhouse and no water. The National Forest Service does their best in keeping the free campground presentable. The campground is beautiful Sunday night thru Thursday night. Most of the B.S. happens on the weekend.

Simple and free campground. Not to far from DC, great because you can go offroading just up the road.

This has been my experience going to Little Fort over the last year. I was there last weekend in January 2015 and in 20 degree weather people were still being rude and crude.

There is no campground host. The Forest Ranger and local Sheriff patrol the area as much as they can. There is a ton of hidden areas in the forest to throw a party. Do not be surprised if you awake at 3 am to hear all hell breaking loose in the distance a few miles away.
