We visited Elizabeth Furnace on November 19th - 20th. What a beautiful campground, and being extremely late in the season, we had our pick of campsites. The sites are first come, first serve, they are well maintained, and cost only $10 per night. What a steal! Elizabeth Furnace is open year around, plenty of trails nearby. I highly recommend.
We absolutely loved this campground! Stayed here for several nights and had nothing but good experiences with the guests and campground host! This campground had a bear problem when we visited and we actually came face-to-face with a black bear during our stay. That being said, the Forest Service is likely helping to try and alleviate the problem. Please help by disposing of food scraps and keeping odors and food to a minimum! Please research before you go, regarding proper bear ethics! Love this campground and hope to see it never closed down!
Nice campground with clean flush toilets and showers. Campground is first come first served. Campsites were mostly well spaced allowing for privacy. Good hiking nearby. The only issue we had was that there was no camp host there to sell firewood.

A great campground / picnic area with passage creek running through it. Go to the back of the day use area and you'll find a covered picnic area and cool swinging bridge.
